The Arts Gold Awards Central Otago aims to seek and celebrate the finest artisans this country has to offer. The awards are open to all New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. 

We are excited to announce that this year’s Arts Gold Awards has a greater prize pool than previous years and we have included (for the first time) a Youth Category for New Zealand artists under the age of 18 as at the 31st August 2021.

Categories are as follows:

  • Supreme Arts Gold Award $10,000
  • Outstanding Central Otago Artist Award $5,000
  • 2 x Highly Commended Awards $3,000 each
  • Youth Award, $3000
  • Peoples Choice Award, $1000

Key Dates:

10pm Friday 30th July 2021 Entries close for the Arts Gold Awards. All entries received, and entry fee paid before 10pm.

5pm Friday 13th August 2021 All finalists selected for the Arts Gold Awards will be notified via email and listed on Central Stories Selected artists must then pack and deliver their work to Central Stories to arrive NOT LATER than 4pm Friday 27th August.

4pm Friday 27th August 2021 Finalists’ artwork must be delivered before 4pm Friday 27th August to Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery, 21 Centennial Avenue, Alexandra 9320.

5.30pm Friday 24th September 2021 Exhibition opening event. Judges will announce the Arts Gold Awards 2021 winners at 6pm in the Russell Henderson Gallery, Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery, Alexandra.

Saturday 25th September – Sunday 31 October 2021 Arts Gold Awards exhibition open to public and works can be viewed at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery from 10am – 4pm daily.

10.30 – 11.30am Sunday 26th September Floor talk by Judges.

4pm Sunday 31st October Exhibition closes.

Monday 1st November until Friday 26th November 2021 Artists and couriers must collect unsold works from Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery between 10am and 4pm.
